We have just been informed that we can no longer use the word 'invalid' in error messages as 'invalid' (in·va·lid) is also 'invalid' (in-vuh-lid) and we could face accusations of discriminatation.
The definitions of invalid contains: –adjective 1. not valid; without force or foundation; indefensible.
It also contains: –noun 1. an infirm or sickly person.
As the term invalid (adj.) has been used in IT to mean incorrect or not valid since the birth of IT i'm not too happy with the fact we have to go through our codebase and rewrite error message (ok not right now but it seems this is the way its going), lots of effort no benifit for anyone apart from Solicitors getting paid lots to come up with this.
So ... am I wrong for thinking this is stupid, a waste of time and effort and political correctness gone mad or can people out there see the point in this?

2007 started as I fully intend it to carry on... with me drinking water!
Yes I know i've said this a few times but i recon if I can manage to drink water from midnight 1st Jan 2007 (which I did) I should beable to give up alcohol. Now for me this is a serious issue (as lots of you have pointed out over the past few years), i don't intend to have an alcohol drink during 2007, to this end the bottle of vodka by my bed has been distroyed and the half bottle of black vodka will be going to Claire (as she brought it for me). No one is to offer me alcohol but no one is also to stop me if I try to drink - its down to me after all!
This is my one and only new years resoultion, if, due to this, i don't see people i'm very sorry but i hope to become the outgoing and talkative person I am after I've had a drink without the need for alcohol!

A great quote that just popped into my head after fixing a nasty bug in some software :)

As demanded by vix_da_vixen List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they're listening to.
Korn - Love Song, dunno why but i just love this song
Apoptygma Berzerk - Starsign
Fear Factory - Linchpin
NIN - Hurt
Terrorvision - Joephine
Union Underground - Turn me on mr deadman
SOAD - Shes like heroin
I think almost everyone has been tagged on my friends list now, sooo .. 7 random people can pick this up and tag themselves :)

I have 8 weeks to find a new job.....
Why: I know most people are bored with their jobs but mine is just silly, when my boss left all the managment function he did was meant to be spread out between our board level directors, instead i seem to have picked up most of the function with no pay rise, no extra benifits at all, its turned from a programming job - ok it was mundane programming but i could cope with that, to a little bit of programming and a load managment crap. I've had multiple promises made and then broken, a bonus scheme that was never implmented and generally being ignored even when the desisons people are making are about software i wrote and it not being able to do what they want (and then i get bollocked for saying "well that will take me a few days to add" when what they want isn't what they asked for, not matter how many times I go over stuff with them).
So i have 8 weeks...
EDIT2: If all goes well it may only be 4 weeks

Alcohol, my permanent accessory Alcohol, a party-time necessity Alchool, alternative to feeling like yourself O alcohol, I still drink to your health
I love you more than I did the week before I discovered alcohol
Forget the caffe latte, screw the raspberry iced tea A malibu and coke for you, a g&t for me Alcohol, your songs resolve like My life never will When someone else is picking up the bill
I love you more than I did the week before I discovered alcohol O alcohol, would you please forgive me? For while I cannot love myself I’ll use something else
I thought that alcohol was just for those with Nothing else to do I thought that drinking just to get drunk Was a waste of precious booze But now I know that there’s a time And there’s a place where I can choose To walk the fine line between Self-control and self-abuse
I love you more than I did the week before I discovered alcohol Would you please ignore that you Found me on the floor Trying on your camisole? O alcohol, would you please forgive me? For while I cannot love myself I’ll use something else.
Would you please forgive me Would you please forgive me
Alcohol - Barenaked ladies

For today only Pub Quiz's are to be classed as revision (i'm sure one of the questions might possibly be slightly possibly in some way related to what ever your studying) so coming to the flapper is almost required by your tutors for success in your exams!
For those non-students... get your ass to the flapper tonight on pain of me moaning like a bitch if you don't the next time i see you.
I have spoken (and fully expect to be ignored)!
